Powered by a brace by Selvan, Velu Socials blanked BHEL (EDN) 4-0 in a ‘C’ Division football league match at the IISc ground on Sunday.

Selvan opened the account in the fifth minute of the game and soon made it 2-0 by the 12th minute. After a barren period, Stanley slotted one home in the 39th minute as Socials went into the break with a 3-0 lead. On resumption, Srinath slammed one in the 62nd minute to put the issue beyond BHEL.

Sultanpalya have it easy
Riding on a brace each from M Nanjappa (2nd, 47th) and P Aiyappa (11th, 18th), Sultanpalya Kodava Sangha defeated Sanjaynagar Kodava Sangha 4-1 in the fifth inter-sangha hockey tournament. KD Nakul scored a consolation goal for the losers in the eighth minute.

Other results: Koramangala Kodava Sangha: 1 (A Monis, 47th) bt Viveknagar Kodava Sangha: 0.

Gagan, Lilly post victories
Gagan and Dharmender Lilly posted twin victories in the 9-ball pool selection camp at the KSBA hall on Sunday. Gagan beat Rafat Habib 7-5 and later overcame Manan 7-6, while Lilly got past Ranjan and Amit Yadav by identical scores (7-1).

Yateesh bags grand treble
It was a treble for CK Yateesh of Mphasis, who won the men’s singles, doubles and team events in the first corporate table tennis tournament conducted by Match Point TT academy on Sunday.

In the men’s singles final, Yateesh defeated Arun Cyril of Aviva 11-6, 11-3, 11-6, 10-12, 11-6 for the title. He paired up with Vikas Rao to win the doubles title.

Results (finals): Men: Singles: CK Yateesh (Mphasis) bt Arun Cyril (Aviva) 11-6, 11-3, 11-6, 10-12, 11-6. Doubles: CK Yateesh/ Vikas Rao (Mphasis) bt Arunabh Sharma/ Arnab Rakshit 11-9, 11-5, 10-12, 11-4. Mandakini takes twin titles
Mandakini Deshpande got the better of Lathika Poosalingam 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 11-2 to clinch the women’s title in the 3rd OSEL veteran’s table tennis State championship at the Malleswaram Association on Sunday.

Mandakini also took the doubles title, pairing with Susheela C to down Lathika P-Nagarathana duo 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6.

Results: Men: Above 40: Final: Anthony Chang bt Krishnamurhti U 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8.

Above 50: Final: Balakrishna S K bt Prasad R 5-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7.

Above 60: Final: Krishnaswamy M A bt Sathyanarayana K 12-14, 13-11, 11-8, 11-6. Semifinals: Krishnaswamy M A bt Venkatesh H R 11-4, 11-5, 11-8; Sathyanarayana K bt Kanchan G C 6-11, 11-3, 5-11, 11-6, 11-7.
