Abass Bashiru’s last minute goal helped Air India beat Sporting Clube-de-Goa in the 12th round of the ONGC I League football championship here on Sunday.
As both teams went on the defensive, the first half remained goalless.
In the 17th minute Sporting’s Parvinder Singh struck a left footer from thirty yards. But it was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Arnab Das Sharma.
Both the teams stepped up attack in the second half and created several chances. Finally Bashiru struck in the 89th minute. Uttam Singh’s throw-in was headed by Suley Musah to Bashiru and he headed it to the right side of the post.
