Lewis Hamilton, the British Formula One driver, has signed a new five-year contract with McLaren-Mercedes. “It’s fantastic for me that the team has extended my contract till 2012,” he said. “I am with the right team to compete for race wins and both the drivers’ and constructors’ titles.”

Danish Kaneria has drawn flak from the Pakistan selectors, who have expressed dissatisfaction over the recent defensive approach of the leg-spinner. He has been asked to report for the specialisation camp for spinners in Lahore. Kaneria has struggled on the tour of India and against South Africa at home.
