Dogs do the cat-walk...
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The last-minute brushings and a spurt of hairspray and a final fluff up before they were ready to go before the judges...

The 86th and 87th All India Championship Dog Shows of the Mysore Kennel Club on Sunday saw 52 breeds of dogs compete in a canine pageant of sorts.

Dog lovers armed with  cameras crowded around the rare breeds. Shih Tzu, a breed that originated in China, was the darling of the crowds. ‘Melody’ a Shih Tzu, with a top knot complete with a pink bow and bead leash got cheers and loud hoots every time her handler Papitchaya, walked her in the show.

The Toy Poodle, Bichon Frise, Kerry Blue Terrier and Springer Terrier were also crowd pullers.

The Great Danes of the Scooby Doo fame, the St Bernards of Beethoven fame and the pugs which starred in a popular commercial were a huge hit with the children.

Grooming and maintaining these dogs is never an easy task.

Stephen Gane who owns a Neopolitan Mastiff  ‘Hugo’ said, “This guy costs me a fortune, up to Rs 5,000 a month.”
