The Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, has revised its syllabi for classes IX and XI - for the March 2010 examinations.
At the ISC level (classes XI and XII) the syllabi for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, History, Geography, Psychology, Economics and Accounts have been revised. For ICSE level (classes IX and X), History and Mathematics syllabi have been revised.
According to a release, over 1,500 schools affiliated to the Council - along with a large number of schools - will benefit from the change. The syllabi will be effective from the schools’ academic year beginning April 2008, for classes IX and XI.
The syllabi have been revised by an Expert Review Committee in such a way that they are relevant to competitive examinations like the pre-medical test and IIT-JEE - for admission to medical and engineering institutes across the country. The syllabus has been designed in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework, 2005.
With purpose
The syllabus has been formulated in order to equip students with a comprehensive and conceptual understanding of the subject. It is also designed to meet the requirements and skills essential for competitive examinations, and higher education in India and abroad.
The council has decided to discontinue Business Management for ISC, from the March 2010 examinations.
The syllabi for ISC and ICSE 2010 examinations will be sent to all schools in the last week of January 2008.
