“We have failed in ensuring basic facilities in DK district for promoting tourism. On priority, an all-weather road must be constructed connecting pilgrimage centres in DK district, Udupi, Kollur and Horanadu,” said MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik.
Speaking after inaugurating the Holy Kailash Mansarovar Yatra photo exhibition organised jointly by SGL Tours and Travels and Four Wings International Travel Pvt Ltd at Sharada Vidyalaya, he said the Uppinangady-Kadaba road must also be improved if the district administration and government wishes to win the goodwill of the people. Everyone has a wish to visit the most important pilgrimage centre once in their lifetime and the dream for most remains unfulfilled. Through this exhibition, information can be collected and the dream can be fulfilled. The experience of going to Kailash Mansarovar is unique. DC M Maheshwar Rao said the district administration has distributed pamphlets to hotels informing about the tourist spots in the district and the home-stay concept is being popularised through road shows.
