About 11 progressive farmers were awarded with ‘Krishi awards’ at the Kisan day celebrations held on Sunday by the Department of Agriculture.
The awards were given away by Zilla Panchayat Agriculture and Industrial Standing Committee President K T Manjunath.
“Progressive farmers are the life of the nation who must be identified and motivated. The agriculture department officers must ensure that quality seeds, fertilisers, technical help are extended to the farmers on time,” Mr K T Manjunath said.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K Sundar Naik said that government must bring in Economic Farming Policy for the farmers.
“Today agriculture is undergoing several changes and the farmers who intend to stick to agriculture will see bright future,” said one of the progressive farmers B C Arvind.
Zilla Panchayat President Chandramma Manjunath inaugurated the programme.
Taluk Krishika Samaja President L V Dhananjaymurthy, vice-president K H Kumaraswamy were present.
