St Josephs take day one honours
DH News Service,Bangalore:

Riding on a fine show from their batsmen, St Joseph’s Indian High School reached a commanding position against Presidency School, Nandini Layout on the opening day of the under-17 cricket tournament for Boost Cup at the M Chinnaswamy stadium here on Sunday.
Batting first, SJIHS made 272 for six in 55 overs. Ashish Dhar 67 (143 balls, 11x4) gave them a good foundation with a measured knock, and U Vikas and L Adarsh built on the platform with aggressive half-centuries.
Vikas made 64 off 77 balls with seven hits to the fence, while Adarsh 56 came off just 51 balls that included six fours and a six. K Konnappa was the most successful bowler for Presidency, bagging three wickets conceding 33 runs.
However, Vikas returned to torment Presidency with a three-wicket haul, helping SJIHS to reduce their opponents to 124 for seven in 43 overs at close.
SS Darshan made 35 off 33 balls for Presidency, but the effort was insufficent to give his team the intiative.
In the second semifinal, Presidency School RT Nagar gained an innings lead of 133 runs over St Joseph’s Boy’s High School.
The cornerstone of their innings was a well-crafted hundred from Mohammad Muneer and an unbeaten 76 from Wasim.
Earlier SJBHS were bundled out for a paltry 124 with Wasim grabbing four wickets.
Brief scores:
St Joseph's Indian High School: 272/6 in 55 overs (Ashish Dhar 67, U Vikas 64, L Adarsh 56, Dhananjai 28 n.o; Surak Uday 2-53, K Konnappa 3-33) vs Presidency School, Nandini Layout: 124/7 in 43 overs (S S Darshan 35, Md Nouman 27’ V S Sandeep 2-21, U Vikas 3-16)
