Ethnic and antique Rajasthani furniture handcrafted at Jodhpur are on display at an exhibition inaugurated by Suncity Homecraft Furnishing Private Limited at Indiranagar recently.
“The usage of solid wood lends uniqueness to these pieces. The furniture is handcrafted with detailed work on it and is manufactured from plantation grown woods of teak, seesham, mango and acacia,” Prabhakar J Bangari, Manager, Sales and Promotions, Suncity Homecraft Furnishing was quoted as saying in a press release.
The tables and cots are all knock-down to enable easy transportation and helps in space conservation inside the house. The furniture, according to the release, is 100 per cent seasoned to offer protection from termites and has a two-year guarantee.
Prices range from Rs 2,300 to Rs 62,000. Some of the popular pieces of furniture, according to the store, include a canopy platform bed made of teak which costs Rs 62,000, the same made from sesham at Rs 41,000 and from mango bark is priced at Rs 37,000.
A trowdle bed (that has another bed which can be pushed beneath) costs Rs 50,000, the sesham variety — Rs 32,000 and Mango — Rs 27,000.
Bar tables and chairs come with melanin coating making it stain-resistant, its upholstery also stain-resistant or scotch-guarded.
The company, that is based in Jodhpur with its’ chief business being exports to the UK and USA, opened shop in Bangalore about three months ago.
Social service ventures initiated by the organisation, in association with NGOs, are rural child education, employment of craftsmen from remote areas and contributing to the green cover by planting saplings.
