Cotton Council International (CCI) is a body that promotes cotton in the country. They create awareness of the positive effects of the fabric. The CCI has kicked off a cotton carnival ‘Cool with Cotton’ in the City recently.
The carnival is spread across different cities and will include mall activities and mobile vans. The purpose of the carnival is to promote cotton and the festival was inaugurated by actress Soha Ali Khan, who looked great in a pretty white cotton shirt and trousers, at Forum mall.
The carnival features small games and contests that will enable consumers to win prizes and also learn about cotton. The most prominent game is the ‘Cotton Design Challenge’ which will allow people to design and the best sketches will win prizes.
Also, the CCI in association with the NGO ‘Goonj’ is requesting people can donate cotton clothes. So if you can catch the mobile van, be sure to donate some of your cotton clothes.
The vans are going to be around on July 28 at CMH Road, Christ College, BTM Layout, Silk Board, Leela Palace and July 29 onwards at Jyothi Niwas College, BVK Iyengar Road, Magestic, City Market, Town Hall, Brigade Road, MG Road, Church Street, Commercial Street, Infantry Road, Shivaji Nagar, Whitefield and ITPL.
Metrolife caught up with Soha at the event and found out what she had to say about cotton and her own fashion quotient.
What do you like about cotton?
Cotton is one of my favourite fabrics and is perfect for our country. It’s comfortable, healthy and great for those with sensitive skin.
What is your style quotient?
I like a lot of different styles, cuts and colours. I prefer natural fabrics to synthetic ones, so I do like cotton a lot! I love bright colours... pinks and oranges and I love orange and fuschia as a combination.
Do you have any films lined up?
My next release is Khoya Khoya Chand, directed by Sudhir Mishra, this movie is about the film industry in the 1950s. I play an actress from that era and I star opposite Shiney Ahuja.
You work in both Bengali and Hindi films. Which one do you enjoy working on more?
I’m more comfortable working in Hindi films because I know the language. But I love Bengali films because they are so progressive.
They often have female protagonists and there’s just so much literature involved in the industry. I mean, no one there makes films for money!
What do you think about Bangalore?
It’s young and it’s so vibrant. There are so many places to eat and hang out. I have family here so I keep visiting the City.
