With bouquet and garlands in his hand, Mohammed Firoz awaited for a darshan of Mohammed Haneef.
The 27-year-old youth, Firoz, had come all the way from Davangere to meet Haneef. On seeing Haneef returning to India in the news channels on Sunday night, he caught the first train to Bangalore. By 9.30 am, Firoz was at BTM Layout residence of Haneef’s in-laws, but was denied entry.
Holding the garlands, he sat outside the house. “I am waiting here from the morning but no one is allowing me to go inside”, he said with a tinge of sadness.
He had brought two garlands- one for Haneef and another for his wife Firdaus Arshiya. He waited the whole day. At the end of the day, all the flowers had withered but he was still waiting with hope to catch a glimpse of his ‘hero’.
‘Leave us alone’
After being in the news headlines across the world for close to a month, Mohammed Haneef, and his family, now want time off the media limelight.
After acknowledging the support extended by the media during his short thanks-giving speech on Monday, the doctor said that he and his family wanted to get on with their lives the way normal people did. “I request the press to allow us to get on with our normal lives,” he said.
