4 children meet watery grave  
Four children from a family met a watery grave when they went to watch cranes in a lake at T Basnahalli.
A special treatment for them at doorstep  
Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan Project Director L K Ateek says nearly 10,600 children have the benefit of home-based school, a scheme under the SSA to ensure 100 per cent literacy and basic education for children below 14 years of age.
Temple elephant stamps 8-year-old boy to death  
An eight-year-old boy was stamped to death by an elephant at the temple premises in Kunigal taluk.
PM to visit State on July 16  
Beginning on July 16, Dr Singh will visit Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Assam and Uttar Pradesh where he would discuss with the states the progresses made so far in implementing the suggestions of National Development Council (NDC) at its meeting in May.
