I have done my agriculture graduation. I want to move abroad for my further studies. Which unversities offer post graduation in agriculture?
Deepak
Dear Deepak,
I appreciate your ambition in pursuing further studies in the field of Agriculture. As you know it is a vast field and you would have to narrow down your area of interest to do a Master's program and Doctoral Studies. Each country and each University specialises in certain fields. Countries such as USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand in general offer courses in all subjects of Agriculture and related fields. Where as countries such as the Netherlands and UK specialise in Agricultural Mechanisation, Irrigation and Drainage Techniques and Floriculture in addition to Agronomy etc. A country such as Israel offers technology in water conservation and growing of crops in dry regions, green house technology etc. First of all identify where your interest lies and your aptitude for it. Having done your graduation in agriculture by now you would have identified what you are good at and what area of specialisation interests you. The agriculture field is ever green and opportunities to grow are immense, hence the scope is unlimited if you are focussed and have the willingness to put in hard work.
Dear Sir,
I am studying in 1st year BE. I have taken up Electronics and Telecommunication engineering. I want to do MS degree in USA or UK. I want to work as a scientist in the field of satellite communication. Which course should I opt for while doing MS degree?
Karthik K S
Dear Karthik,
You already have a good base in Electronics and Telecommunication and if you have found to have high aptitude in this area and if your interest develops deeply you can continue to specialise either in the electronics or in telecommunication stream as specialisation in MS in either of the countries.
Satellite communication is a highly specialised field and job opportunities available are mostly with Government and very few private organisations are in the field. Hence job opportunities are limited and one has to excel in academics and be highly competitive.
However continuing in the same line and keep looking for opportunities may give you openings. Most universities in both countries offer MS in these streams.
To study in USA you have to have GRE and TOEFL scores and for UK universities TOEFL or IELTS score is needed, though GRE is not a must having the score gives you admission in better universities. Since you still have 3 more years continue working hard and keep your academic achievements high and aim for further education.
Dear Sir,
My son is studying in the 4th year MBBS, and he wants to continue his studies abroad for doing MS. Which country can he go to and can you name some good colleges. What is the approximate cost and duration. Which country is better - USA, Germany or England . Can he work and study MS parallely. Which field has more scope? What are the preliminary exams he has to take in India? Please tell me the procedure in detail.
Concerned father
Dear concerned father,
It is unfortunately becoming very difficult for medical doctors to go for higher education abroad particularly to countries such as USA and UK. Any higher education in the field of medicine involves ongoing clinical work for which one has to get a license from the concerned country, which involves preliminary exams.
To study in the UK one has to take PLAB examination (Proficiency in Linguistic Assessment Board), first part of which can be taken in India, part 2 and 3 one has to take in UK. For USA one has to pass USMLE in medical and clinical subjects. Part one of this examination can be taken in India after which the remaining part has to be taken in USA. This is the point at which visa availability is crucial as they refuse to give for medical doctors.
Moreover now-a-days these countries are giving first preference to the local medical graduates.
Germany is not yet open for medical education as the system of their education is different and for clinical practice language is the main barrier. The only other option left are in countries such as China and Russia.
China is emerging lately as a destination for Medical education as they claim to have evolved the curriculum of international standards and also prepare the graduates to take up the screening test of Medical Council of India, which is mandatory for all medical graduates from any country abroad of any stream to practice in India.
The MS and MD course in China is of 3 year duration. Details may be found by browsing www.chinambbs.com. Russia also offers 2-year Post Graduation in several streams of Medical Education.
But one has to spend a lot of time in learning the language and getting integrated to their systems of practice and after graduation there Indian Medical Council screening test is a must, but opportunities are available and cost is economical. Dear sir,
I have just completed my 10th ICSE this year and now Im waiting for my results. I intend to do 11th and 12th in ISC and after that i want to do medicine abroad. should i take the SAT exams, and if I do ,then when? Do i begin coaching already? Are there any alternatives?can you please guide me through this situation? Thank You
Sanjay Suresh
Dear Sanjay,
If you continue studying 11th and 12th you will be eligible to seek admission for undergraduate course in UK all you need is IELTS score, which you can prepare for in 11 th or 12th. For USA you need SAT score as well as TOEFL score, which you can prepare for in either of the years. Medical education in these countries starts after one has taken science subjects in their undergraduate studies and clearing Medical Aptitude Test. After entry in to medical college it takes another 6 years to complete Medical education in general and later one has to do specialisation after getting in to clinical by taking local mandatory licences. It is a long drawn process and needs academic excellence. Further in all these countries Medical Education is awfully expensive and funding or financial assistance of any sort is also a difficult proposition. For your information many NRI's send their children for basic medical education to India. I suggest you check your aptitude to pursue medical education and be open to write the local entrances also, keeping your options open.
Dear sir/madam,
I have given my 2nd puc exams with Science as my stream. I am quite interested in pursuing bachelors in Australia. My field of interest is Electronics and telecommunication engineering. Could you please suggest good universities in Australia, the procedures to apply for them and also about the fee structures of those universities? Will I get any Financial aid? Kindly advice.
Regards,

Dear Anonymous,
Since you have already appeared for 2nd PUC, by now results would be out and you are late to look for under graduate courses in Australia , unless you are willing to lose some time as term begins July and in some colleges there term starts also in February. Some universities may have term beginning in May and November also. One has to start from narrowing down colleges and select couple of colleges to apply. Their selection and admission will take some time and then only one can go for pre visa and final visa process. You need a minimum of 6 months preparation time. Browse through the following web sites for narrowing down your option for admission, requirements, term starting time etc.: www.studyaustralia..gov.au, www.ttsaustraliavisa.com , www.idp.com
