Astronomy courses

The MP Birla Institute of Fundamental Research, Bangalore, is conducting a 2-week course in Astronomy and Astrophysics for Pre-University students from July 9 to July 21, 2007.

The course will include basic concepts of astronomy and astrophysics like understanding the celestial sphere, cosmological aspects like origin of the universe, concept of dark matter, related to extra terrestrial life and so on.There will be 12 sessions of classroom lectures along with a field trip to the Radio Astronomy Centre at Gauribidanur.

The classes will be held at the institute premises from 3pm to 4.30 pm.The admissions for a batch of 30 students will be done on first come-first serve basis till July 6, 2007.

Workshop on Animation

The Government has sanctioned introduction of BBM course at Government First Grade College, K R Puram, during the academic year 2007-08.  The local eligible students can make use of this opportunity and applications can be purchased from the college office.

Free textbooks

The Rajasthan Youth Association is offering free textbooks for needy people from PUC I to degree.  Book bank application forms are available at Mohan and Company and from June 15, at all city colleges.

Elocution contest

Karnataka Haridasa Scientific Research Centre is conducting an Elocution Contest for college students on June 15, 2007, at Vijayaranga Hall, (Next to Hotel Indraprastha), Vijayanagar on the subject “Why the youth is shying away from Pure Sciences?"

The selected speakers will be invited to participate in the National Seminar to be held from July 13 to 15, 2007.Colleges can send a maximum of 3 entries.
