When the Malleswaram-based Canara Union Social Service League (CUSSL) members conducted their first Garage Sale in 2003, little did they realise that it would go on to become an established and much appreciated annual feature like it is now.

The union league is conducting its fifth annual garage sale on September 29 and 30.

Through this sale, they are aiming to encourage people to donate used household articles such as stainless steel items, crockery, cutlery, clothes, furniture, electronic goods, footwear, suitcases, curios among others, for a social cause.

All the items are priced and re-sold at the sale. The core team and a bunch of volunteers have evolved systematic processes to receive the goods, sort, price and pack them away for the sale in neatly labelled cartons. For those who give away things, the garage sale is a great opportunity to get unused articles out of their house. And for those who want to buy something, you wont get these things at a better rate anyway!

So it’s a win-win situation, with the added advantage of participating for a noble cause. Proceeds from the sale will be directed to help community members in distress and those in need of medical help.
