A Shivashankar, businessman: India will lift the cup because Dhoni and Yuvraj are there. The present team’s performance is excellent. There was too much politics earlier because of senior players. But the young blood now wants to perform. There was a feeling earlier that the team cannot survive without seniors but they could not even make it to the Super-8 stage of the 50-over World Cup. This young group has beaten Australia. Now it looks like the team cannot survive without junior players!
Nalina, receptionist:Dhoni is doing very well and so India will definitely win. I like the fierceness which all the
players are displaying. You can understand their attitude when you are watching. These players are have a fire in their bellies and are playing only to win. They are viewing each game as a challenge. If they continue playing in this fashion, they will win a lot more in future. This shortened version of the game will soon overtake the longer one-day format.
Alok Aiyanna, executive: Being an Indian I will say India will lift the cup. The team is playing well though they lack experience. Dhoni’s captaincy is good and if Yuvraj sustains his form, we will definitely win. He is the key player. Even Dhoni takes some time to settle down but Yuvraj can hit a six off the first ball. The twenty-over format has a huge advantage as it takes less time and so it can be included in the Asian and Olympic games.
Jerlina, homemaker: You can never say who will win. It all depends on the circumstances on a particular day.
India’s performance now is very good when you compare it with other recent performances, even the World Cup. The young group is playing much better than the seniors. But they have to learn to be more fit to run between wickets, to improve their fielding and catch better. T-20 is short and sweet and this form of the game is likely to become very popular.
