<p>Mumbai: A major fire broke out at the iconic Kaiser-i-Hind building, which houses the office of the Enforcement Directorate in the Ballard Estate area of Mumbai. </p><p>There were no reports of casualties.</p><p>However, files and documents are believed to have been damaged in the incident. </p> .<p>According to information received from the Mumbai Police and the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation’s Mumbai Fire Brigade, the fire was reported around 0231 hrs and was controlled around 1157 hrs.</p><p>The exact cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. </p><p>The fire, at the building located at the Currimbhoy Road in Ballard Estate in Fort, was initially declared as Level-I but later upgraded to Level-II and then Level-III.</p> .<p>According to officials, the fire started on the fourth floor of the building. </p><p>“The fire was confined to wooden furniture, office materials in offices on the 4th floor of basement plus ground plus upper four floors and attic floor building,” fire brigade officials said. </p> .<p>Because of the fire, there was heavy smoke on the fourth floor. </p><p>“Furniture stock kept in common passage and balcony causes obstruction for firefighting. Ventilation of buildings is done with breaking window glasses,” the officials added.</p><p>As many as eight fire engines, six jumbo tankers, an aerial water tower tender, one breathing apparatus van, a rescue van, a quick response vehicle, and an ambulance were also deployed to the scene. “The fire continued for several hours before it was controlled,” they added. </p><p>The Kaiser-i-Hind building in Mumbai houses one of the five regional offices of the ED.</p>
