Work effectively, legislators urged
Primary and secondary education minister Vishveshwara Heggade Kageri stressed on the need for elected representatives to work effectively according to the expectations of the people, replying to a query on the arrest of MLA Sampangi.
He was speaking at an interaction organised by Karnataka State Middle School Teachers Association here on Saturday.
He expressed confidence that all six candidates of BJP would win the MLC elections.
Provide quality education
Earlier, inaugurating the interaction programme he said the education department is aiming to provide quality education to children.
During the past four years, emphasis has been on education by setting aside 15 per cent of budget for education.
Vacant posts
He said 2.25 lakh candidates have applied for 3,400 posts of teachers and 95,000 have applied for 1,700 lecturers post.
MLC G Madhusudhan said Prof S M Gurunanjaiah has worked for 30 years in the field and has already contested twice.
Retired principal H S Srinivas, HUDA president Navile Annappa and BJP district unit president Krishnegowda were present at the interaction.
