A junior teacher, posted at Benipur in north Bihar, was served a show cause notice for urinating in public on the premises of the sub-divisional office.

The action was taken by an IAS probationer Vijay Prakash Meena, who took umbrage at assistant teacher Sajjan Paswan urinating in the open on the SDO office premises.

The young officer was more peeved at the teacher as she felt that Paswan, who should have helped spread awareness about the Swachhta Abhiyanhiyan (cleanliness drive), was instead setting a bad example with his actions.

"This is to inform you that you were caught peeing on the premises of a public place like the sub-divisional office on January 13. This is against the spirit of the cleanliness drive of the Government. Explain why departmental proceedings should not be initiated against you," the show cause issued to Paswan reads.

The teacher immediately realised his folly and soon tendered an unconditional apology for his misdemeanour. Paswan in his apology letter also promised not to repeat such a mistake again.

The IAS probationer has warned other employees to desist from committing such a mistakes at a time when the Centre and the state government have been working overtime to make districts open defecation free (ODF).

In terms of hygiene and cleanliness, Bihar has been lagging far behind.

The state's capital, Patna, was ranked 262 out of 434 cities during the Swachh Sarvekshan-2017 (cleanliness survey).
