Bengaluru residents turn sewage into potable water

Last Updated 20 July 2015, 09:19 IST

The residents of T-Zed apartments in Whitefield have come up with an innovative solution to overcome Bengaluru's crippling water crisis. For over three years they have been treating and turning sewage water into potable water for daily use.

They started the process in 2012 when they faced severe water problem and decided to install a three phase purification process to reuse the sewage water. It was designed by Srinivas Sekhar, an IT professional turned green entrepreneur.

The apartment complex is no longer dependent on water tankers as they have found a perfect mix of using borewell water and treated water. Even the sludge is used as manure for the gardens around the complex.
