Traumatised dogs available for adoption

Last Updated 26 May 2016, 03:12 IST
156 beagles have received a new lease of life after a Bengaluru-based laboratory set them free. The lab wanted to conduct experiments on them but was denied permission by the government.

These beagles have spent all their life in cages. Some of them were used for breeding while the rest were just kept caged when the lab was waiting for official approvals. They have had no exposure to the outside world nor had any semblance of a normal life. The very sight of humans terrifies some of them.

The NGO CUPA is now trying to rehabilitate the rescued animals. It is looking for sensitive animal-lover families, which are willing to adopt and nurture these unfortunate animals.

A team of councillors scrutinise applications to select families and explain to them how to manage these dogs that have not been socialised till now. Since last week CUPA has been bringing these beagles in small batches to its shelter on the Sarjapur road. Families interested in taking home these adorable animals have begun to visit them.
