Bandh hits normal life in Bengaluru

Normal life has come to a halt in Bengaluru as the bandh called by pro-Kannada organisations on the Mahadayi dispute continues. Thousands gathered at Town Hall to register their protest.

Though BMTC buses are not running, private vehicles hit the roads. Commuters are alleging that the auto drivers are demanding excess fair. Metro started functioning at the normal time but with more security at the stations. Only one entrance of the stations remains open.
* More than 1000 Kannada activists have gathered in front of Town Hall. They will be rallying to the Freedom Park.
*Traffic towards town hall circle has been blocked from all the directions.

* Film producer Sa Ra Govind takes part in the protest representing Kannada film artists and technicians.
*An effigy of Manohar Parrikar was burnt at Town Hall premises.

* Protestors pelted stones at a hotel in Malleswaram.
* Education institutions remain shut. IT companies including Infosys and Wipro had decided to suspend the operations.
