Costa Serena, a sister ship of the stricken Costa Concorida cruiser, passed one nautical mile from the capsized ship on Wednesday night. The two ships are listed as the largest and longest ones in the Costa Cruises fleet. Five days after the 114,500 tonne Concordia struck a rock and capsized off the Tuscan island of Giglio, hopes of finding anyone alive have faded and salvage experts are preparing to pump 2,300 tonnes of fuel from the hulk.
