Tired of the usual weekend outing? The boring movie followed by a bland dinner at that overrated restaurant?

How about a unique curated experience -- perhaps, a jam session, a bit of book reading, and an authentic Moroccan meal to jazz it all up?

Now, some Bengalureans are turning hosts by offering unique curated social experiences around food, arts and culture, in case if you are interested.

Exclusive movie screenings, cocktail sessions, Sunday brunches, beer and barbeques, jam sessions, storytelling, book readings, live performances so on and so forth, surely, there’s a lot to pick from.

The experiences are facilitated by OpenOut, a venture set up in 2016. OpenOut is a city-based community platform that enables people to host and participate in unique home-curated experiences.

“It is a wonderful way to meet new people, learn and experience something new in a truly enriching way,” says Arun Rafi, founder of OpenOut.

“Our goal is to create an ecosystem where people make meaningful connections wherever they go, while having fun and being a part of something interesting,” Rafi adds.

So far, over 2,000 people have participated in close to 400 unique curated social experiences.

Childhood friends Natasha and Pari now reside in Bengaluru. Natasha is a chef, and Pari an artist.

Natasha’s grandparents met in Morocco, during the World War. Her father spent his childhood in Rabbat. Likewise, Morocco and it’s colors have left a deep influence in Pari’s art.

The duo shared their love for food recently, by hosting an exquisite experience of Moroccan cuisine to food lovers in the city, thanks to the OpenOut community.

“My first experience with OpenOut featured Italian appetizers and master-crafted cocktails by a mixologist, who also taught us how to mix different flavours to craft the perfect cocktail,” says Jerry, a participant.

To host an experience, one has to sign up as a host on OpenOut. One can also choose from a variety of experiences listed on the platform in order to attend a hosting.

So, if you are a good host or a great cook, a soulful singer or a musician, a talented painter or a movie buff, you can now share your passion with like-minded individuals by hosting a curated experience.

One of the upcoming experiences include The Bombay Lunchbox, hosted by a Mumbaikar who moved to Bengaluru. The experience offers a soulful meal curated around some beautiful memories of the city of Bombay.

The OpenOut team is planning to expand the community to Mumbai and Delhi as well in the coming years.
