Passengers urge KSRTC to provide stop at Mysuru Road

Passengers taking a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus from Ramanagara or Channapatna to the city have asked the authorities to follow the BMTC route and offer a stop at the Mysuru Road metro station.

Passengers currently walk from the Deepanjali Nagar metro station to the satellite bus stand at Bapuji Nagar or from the Mysuru Road metro station to the Nayandahalli bus stop to board KSRTC buses. Both those routes are regarded unsafe for pedestrians.

“The buses should follow the BMTC route and go under the flyover,” said Kiran Damodar, a regular commuter from Channapatna to the city. “This would be helpful for those who take KSRTC buses towards Mysuru and take the metro to various parts of the city. If the KSRTC buses stop at the Mysuru Road metro station, it’ll help the last-mile connectivity.”

Damodar said walking on the main road towards the bus stand is challenging due to the dust and dense traffic. Passengers feel the need for a stop at the Mysuru Road metro station, particularly during the weekend, when walking the length of the traffic-filled roads with women and senior citizens to catch a KSRTC bus is nightmarish.

“Having a stop (at the Mysuru Road metro station) would be hassle-free since we could board the bus immediately after exiting the metro,” said Sampath, a weekend traveler to Mysuru. “The problem is, we reach the city, getting crushed in the weekend crowd and then have to walk a good distance to board the metro at Nayandahalli. This makes life difficult for families.”

KSRTC MD Umashankar said he has directed divisional controllers to decide on the demands.

“We’ll ask the official concerned to look into the issue and change the route, if necessary. Passenger safety is our main motto,” he said.
