The Vyalikaval police are awaiting the autopsy report of the 26-year-old law intern, Pushp Archana Lall who allegedly committed suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills at a paying guest accommodation in Malleswaram on November 24.

Pushp Archana, a native of Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar islands, had filed a sexual harassment complaint against two senior advocates T Chandra Naik and Chetan Desai. The latter is a government pleader at the Karnataka High Court.

The complaint was lodged with the Commercial Street police on November 19, 2018, and an FIR was registered on the next day, the police said.

Bail obtained

However, the two accused advocates who came to know about the case appeared before a magistrate on November 22, 2018, and obtained bail.

A senior police officer said that according to Section 164 of CrPC, Pushp Archana was about to record her statement before a magistrate, and the police had set November 28 for the same.

Pushp Archana was found dead at her paying guest accommodation in Malleswaram, where she had arrived just eight days ago. The police also said she had started work at a new law firm in Malleswaram after she was sexually harassed by the two advocates at the Infantry road law firm where she worked.

‘Cellphone to have info’

An investigating officer said Pushp’s mobile phone is likely to have crucial information regarding threats or intimidation by the accused parties forcing her to withdraw the case.

Based on the autopsy report and the evidence the police may find in Pushp’s phone, the accused might be booked under abetment to suicide, said a police source.
