A six-month-old baby boy died after cement bricks fell on his head at an under-construction site at Heelalige village in Surya Nagar near Electronics City.

The victim, Naveen, is the son of Mahadevaiah and Venkatamma, who hail from Yadagiri in Kalaburagi district. The couple were living with their son in a shed at the construction site.

According to the police, the couple had gone to work while Naveen was still sleeping around 6.30 am on Saturday. The window at the shed was still under construction. Due to heavy wind, cement bricks used as a support for the window fell on the head and chest of the infant from 10 feet height.

Vekatamma returned to the shed to find the baby in a pool of blood. She alerted her husband and with the help of neighbours, rushed the boy to a hospital. He was later referred to Indira Gandhi child hospital in Jayanagar where he succumbed due to severe injuries on Monday.

The Surya City police have registered a case of unnatural death.
