'It' director Andy Muschietti has been signed on to direct a Hollywood-produced live-action adaptation of the bestselling manga 'Attack on Titan'.

Variety reports that Warner Bros has signed a deal with Japanese publisher Kodansha Ltd. to produce a feature film adaptation of the manga. However, no studio has yet been announced.

'Attack on Titan', written by Hajime Isayama, is set in a world where humanity lives behind three walls which protect them from the eponymous 'Titans', giant humanoid beings that are driven by the single-minded urge to eat humans. It has 76 million copies in print since its debut in 2009.

Along with Andy as the director, his sister Barbara will be producing the film, joining David Heyman (Harry Potter) and Masi Oka (Mega Man).

Andy's previous directorial feature, 'It', the second adaptation of the Stephen King horror book, earned over $700 million worldwide and was widely praised by critics and fans. He is currently filming its sequel, which stars James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jessica Christian and Isaiah Mustafa, who will be joined by Bill Skarsgård who is reprising his role as Pennywise.
