Nearly five years after the controversy erupted, the Mumbai Police on Saturday recorded the statement of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan vis-a-vis fake emails sent in his name to actor Kangana Ranaut.

His statement was recorded in the Crime Intelligence Unit of the Crime Branch-CID.

It may be recalled, Roshan had filed a complaint in 2016 alleging that someone impersonating him was sending e-mails from a bogus e-mail ID to Kangana Ranaut.

Based on the complaint, a case of cheating, impersonation and identity theft was lodged under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act against an unknown imposter at the Cyber Crime police station in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

The police forensic expert was then unable to establish any facts about the email ID as it was located in the US and submitted a NIL report in June 2017.

In December, 2020, the case was transferred the CIU.

Meanwhile, Kangana has tweeted: “duniya kahan se kahan pahunch gayi magar mera silly ex abhi bhi waheen hai usi modh pe jahan yeh waqt dobara laut ke nahi jane wala”.

Hrithik and Kangana had worked together in Kites in 2010 Krrish 3 in 2013.

The year 2016 marked an ugly public spat between them. Hrithik had denied any kind of relationship with Kangana.

In the past, Kangana had claimed that the e-mail was provided to her by Hrithik and they used to communicate through it.
