A survey on Monday found Narendra Modi to be the most popular choice for the post of the Prime Minister of the 17th Lok Sabha. In the post-poll survey conducted by The Hindu and CSDS-Lokniti, most number of people preferred Modi over Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Forty four per cent of respondents said they want Modi to be the Prime Minister while Rahul Gandhi was appealing to only 24 per cent of the respondents.

According to a report in The Hindu, Prime Minister Modi was supported mostly by the youth and graduates and was pronounced higher in Hindi heartland. In Hindi heartland, except Uttar Pradesh, people were casting vote for the prime ministerial candidate and not other options like a party, local candidate etc.

The 'Modi Factor', as reported, has helped Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) overcome the incumbency and dissatisfaction among the voters against the re-nominated candidates in several areas.

However, the popularity of Rahul Gandhi has risen though it is very low compared to Modi.
