Natasaarvabhowma’, which released on Thursday, is creating a buzz in the Kannada film industry. Aiming to reach out to a wider audience with releases across the globe, the directorial venture of Pavan Wadeyar brings Puneeth Rajkumar to the screen as a journalist. The film includes actors Rachitha Ram and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles.

The title, which means ‘emperor of acting’, is what the film is about, says the director, Pavan Wadeyar. The horror-thriller has Puneeth Rajkumar showcasing his dancing skills and acting prowess, he says.

Pavan adds, “The film’s title is the name Dr Rajkumar was known as and I am super excited that Puneeth is in the film. He will definitely continue his father’s legacy.”

“The film showcases Puneeth sir in a new shade. He plays an adventurous journalist who comes from Kolkata to Bengaluru, in search of someone. He lands in a rented house which is thought to be haunted. The film progresses on to reveal a gripping tale and how the ghost takes revenge,” says Pawan.

Pavan had earlier worked with the ‘Power Star’ in ‘Rana Vikrama’. “This is my second stint with him. My film demanded an actor like him. In fact, I had him on my mind the entire time I wrote the script. I knew that he hadn’t worked in a horror film or portrayed the role of a journalist before. The film talks about the power of a journalist and how a scribe can guide the society and politicians,” he says.

After KGF, Sandalwood has attracted attention from all across the globe, he says.

“This is the first time that Kannada films are releasing in Russia. It is a great time to be a part of the Kannada film industry. From acting to technical skills to direction, Sandalwood is growing in leaps and bounds in all aspects. More than pressure, directors like myself are feeling encouraged to explore,” says Pavan.

He notes that the industry has been flooded with horror and thriller projects in the last couple of years, but ‘Natasaarvabhowma’ aims to be different.

“The film will be a treat for Puneeth fans and will keep movie buffs on the edge of their seats. The film’s reviews have far exceeded my expectations. Our film speaks for itself,” he sums up.
