Gold is the colour of the winter fashion

This is the season to be merry and blingy. And what better way to do that than wear the brightest colour of the season - gold. Gold can be worn in various ways by both men and women. Let’s start with one of my favourites:

Brocade

This elegant yet sometimes outlandish fabric can be used in a variety of silhouettes, from pants to skirts, jackets to sherwanis. Brocade has a rich lustrous appeal to it which makes it look elegant and classy in every form. Black and gold, and white and gold are two of my favourite brocade looks.

Foil prints

Foil printing brings out the richness of a print which you would not get on a normal screen print.

Go for a foil printed shirt, printed in gold to show the lustre and richness of the colour. These prints can be funky or traditional and can be done in a variety of colours, but a gold foil print stands out the best.

Zardosi

This traditional Indian embroidery has been around for ages. Gold metal thread embroidered in various patterns brings out the richness of the gold thread. This work can be seen on traditional sherwani, lehengas or even more contemporary silhouettes.

We have worked on a variety of jackets both traditional Indian ones as well as western ones with zardosi embroidery. But what I have enjoyed doing the most of late is zardosi embroidery on men’s shoes. Velvet evening shoes in colours ranging from maroon to black have been worked on by using this traditional form of embroidery on shoes.

Crushed gold fabric

This season we have worked with crushed gold fabric for women which drapes beautifully on the body.

Dresses, gowns and even jackets and capes have been done using crushed gold fabric which has a richness to it and goes perfectly well for the season.

Gold Rivets

Rivets are the hottest thing in fashion at the moment.

Be it on shoes, jackets, pants or even bandis; nothing beats rivets and studs in various shapes and sizes to add that extra bit of glamour to any garment.

We have used rivets on formal shoes as well as sneakers and also used them to accessorise women’s pants and jackets as well as men’s shirts, Bandhgala bomber and biker jackets.
