Located in one of the busiest bylanes of Koramangala, ‘The Bier Library’ is a hidden gem for all food lovers in the city. Spread over two spacious floors, the interiors involve exposed bricks and massive walls that give an earthy feel. The 20,000 sq feet microbrewery also has a central courtyard, a fish pond and open spaces for live performances and can accommodate 600 people.

The tall ceilings, a monolithic curved staircase, benches and tables and a couple of sofas add to the charm of the place.

The restaurant has a few cosy corners where you can chill with a friend with a couple of drinks. We
chose to sit by the pond to enjoy their hand-crafted beers and a live band performance.

Living up to its name, the menu at ‘The Bier Library’ is designed in the shape of a book and is named ‘The Affair In The Kitchen’. It covers Continental, North Indian, pizza and BBQ items.

As you settle down, ask for a sampler tray of their artisanal hand-crafted beers.

All seven beers, ‘Very Weiss’(German wheat beer), ‘Further Lager (malty Munich lager), ‘Wittle Wit’ (a mildly phenolic and spicy wheat beer with fruity flavour), ‘Phase-stout’ (roasted coffee and dark chocolate flavour), ‘Ale-o-drama’ (citrusy with hints of grapefruit and guava), ‘Ment-ale-ity’ (smooth fruit flavour, a brewmaster special) and ‘Red-ale-culous’ (red ale with a hint of toffee and caramel) are unique in taste, flavour and ingredients. The ‘Very Weiss’ and Red-ale-culous’ are personal favourites.

While you enjoy your beers, ask for the popular ‘Pickle board’, which is an assortment of their signature pickles paired with sourdough bread. These pickles range from sweet and spicy to mildly spiced.
You can also try the ‘Chips board’ that comes with sweet potato, tapioca, lotus stem, bitter gourd and banana chips.

These bar snacks are perfect pairs for the crafted beers.

The ‘Indian Mezze Board’ is another bar bite we enjoyed. Served with hummus, mashed spicy mint and peas, tempered yoghurt and pickle, the pita bread was crispy and fresh.

If you want to try out their salads, we recommend the ‘Balsamic Mixed Green Salad’ for vegetarians. The crunchy greens, cherry tomatoes, beetroots and freshly grounded pepper were delectable. The slightly tangy taste and the smoothness of olive oil won our tastebuds.

Non-vegetarians can try out the ‘Classic Caesar’ salad.

The quantity of each dish is pretty filling, so if you are not in a mood to have a full-fledged main-course, fret not! You can go for ‘Pizza By the Slice’.

By the time we finished the pizza slice, we were quite full, but there is always room for dessert.

We tried the classic ‘Rasmalai’ and the ‘Drunken Chocolate Mousse’.

While the ‘Rasmalai’ was a delight to the tastebuds, the ‘Drunken Chocolate Mousse’ infused with dark rum and dark chocolate mousse was lip-smacking.

And now, there is also good news for all pet parents. You can take your furry friends along with you the next time you visit this place. Yes, it is a pet-friendly space and your fur balls will love it here.

‘The Bier Library’ is located at 14, Patel Narayana Reddy Layout, 80 Feet Main Road, 6th Block, Koramangala.
