Oh, so many posers

The year has just begun and the ‘Selfie of the Year’ has already been taken. Prime Minister Narendra Modi posed with some of the top Bollywood celebrities for a picture, and Netizens just couldn’t let it pass without comment.

Actors like Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal and directors Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty, Ekta Kapoor and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari met Modi in Delhi to discuss how the entertainment ‘industry could contribute to nation building.’

The actors posted the picture on their social media handles, thanking him for reducing GST on movie tickets. Amit Malviya said things had changed so much that the actors were all chanting ‘Jai Hind.’ Not everyone was impressed, though. A critic described the picture as a poster for a potential Netflix film called Spineless.

Metrolife brings you some sceptical tweets.

@sridharmarch: Makeup cost of PM Modi would be much more than other co-actors.

@heartindian_: Part-time actors with full-time actor #ModiMadeDisaster #Modi

@rohitptd789: When reel actors meet real actor #Modi #meme

@rajkumarjohnson: A world-famous actor surrounded by small-time politicians. #Modi #Bollywood

@Painter_Majnu: Both #Modi and #VivekOberoi have one thing in common. They both know what a press conference can do to their careers, so they avoid it these days! #perfectfit #ModiBiopic

@Pretty_Paru: Seems like a prominent Jupiter in between overshadowing all the stars!!!

On a picture of Karan Johar and PMO, @Heerahee: Both responsible for ruining Rahul’s good night sleep.

@akshayw555: Good to see this photo of PM @narendramodi’s farewell party.

Metrolife take: On the plus side, after the producers’ meet with PM Modi on December 19, there was much flak on the Internet that there wasn’t enough female representation. At least in this meeting, we got to see Ekta, Alia, Bhumi and Ashwiny representing the female fraternity.
