JOIN USSeven students secured the first position in their Class XII board examinations held by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), results of which were announced on Monday.
The council announced the results of Class XII and Class X board examinations on Monday.
Swayam Das of St Mary’s ICSE School, Mumbai topped the country in Class X (ICSE) examination with 99.40% while Jasmin Kaur Chahal of St Joseph’s Convent School, Jalandhar and Anokhi Amit Mehta of Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu, Mumbai came second.
Mumbai’s Abhijan Chakraborty of Lilavatibai Podar School was declared first along with six others in the Class XII board examination with a 99.5% score. Kottayam’s S Aditya Krishna grabbed the second position along with 16 others.
The second position in the Class XII board examinations was secured by 17 students while as many as 25 students grabbed the third position.
Neel Mulay of Greenwood High, Bengaluru stood third in Class X board, sharing the spot with 11 others while Sanyukta Giri and Era Gupta of Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, Bengaluru were declared third in the country along with 24 others in Class XII.
The overall pass percentage of the students who took Class X board examination remained 98.5.
The pass percentage of girls was pegged at 98.95 and that of the boys 98.15. The overall pass percentage of students who took Class XII board examination remained 96.21. The pass percentage of girls was pegged at 97.63 while the boys registered a pass percentage of 94.96.
In Karnataka, while the pass percentage for Class 10 girls is 99.89, it was 99.69 for boys. In the Class XII exams, there is a difference of 1.17 percentage points with girls having a pass percentage of 99.76.
Nationwide, 98.51% in ICSE and 96.21% in ISC passed the exams while in Karnataka 99.78% passed in ICSE and 99.20 passed in ISC. Girls perform better
Girls outshone boys in both ICSE and ISC, according to CISCE chief executive officer and secretary Gerry Arathoon. While a total of 12 students of Class X came third in the all-India merit list prepared by the council, the second slot was grabbed by two students.
While the Class X board topper (Das) secured 99.40%, each of those coming second secured 99.20% and third 99%.
Out of 1,83,387 students who took the Class X exam, 54.73% were boys while the total number of girls who appeared was 45.27%. Out of 80,880 students who took the ISC exams, 53.23% were boys while the number of girls taking the examination was 46.77%.
