Hours after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked "Who is Shah Rukh Khan?" the Bollywood superstar called up Sarma expressing concern over tearing posters of his next film Pathaan allegedly by Bajrang Dal members recently in Guwahati.

"Bollywood actor Shri Shah Rukh Khan called me and we talked today morning at 2am. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during screening of his film. I assured him that its duty of the state government to maintain law and order. We'll enquire and ensure no such untoward incident," Sarma tweeted on Sunday morning.

On Saturday afternoon, when asked by a reporter about tearing of Pathaan posters, Sarma said he does not know about Shah Rukh Khan and his film Pathaan. "I receive everyone's call, if he calls, I will look into the matter," Sarma said when the reporter told him that posters of Khan's upcoming movie, Pathaan were torn by Bajrang Dal members in Guwahati. "I am concerned about Assamese cinema. I am not worried about Bollywood."

Members belonging to right wing organisations staged protests in different parts of the country and even threatened to stop screening of Pathaan, mainly due to their objection to a song, which shows Khan's co-star Deepika Padukone in saffron bikini. The film is likely to be released on screen on January 25.

Sarma was addressing a press conference to announce that the Centre decided to nominate Charaideo Maidam in Assam, the burial mound of Ahom Dynasty (1228-1826), for Unesco's World Heritage site tag.

Assam was under the rule of the Ahoms for nearly 600 years, who even defeated the Mughals in the famous Battle of Saraighat (1671) near Guwahati. The Ahom army was led by Lachit Borphukan and the BJP-led government in Assam is trying to promote the Ahom commander's story the way people know about Chatrapati Shivaji.
