Denouncing in one voice the massacre of 49 people in New Zealand, Kashmiris on Friday expressed shock over the terror attacks at two Christchurch mosques.

“Good to see most people are calling the #NewZealandMosqueFiring what it is - a terror attack. #NewZealandTerroristAttack. No words of condemnation are strong enough & no words of sympathy for the families adequate enough. May Allah grant them Jannat (sic),” former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah twitted.

PDP chief and another former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Mehbooba Mufti while appreciating the way New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern reacted to the attacks, said, “Respect for such leadership qualities.”

Ardern said that there is no place for such terror attacks and that New Zealand is home to all migrant communities regardless of their religion.

Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while expressing shock over the twin mosques terrorist attacks, said that terrorism in whatever form has become the enemy of peace and human values.

“Shocked and Deeply grieved by the barbaric attack at twin mosques in #Christchurch New Zealand. Multiple fatalities feared. Once again Humanity becomes a casualty. Condemnation beyond words. prayers for the victims (sic)” he tweeted.

Politicians and religious leaders apart, there was widespread shock and anger in the Valley against the terror attack. “I condemn every killing be it a Shia Muslim killed in Pakistani mosque or a Suni Muslim killed in new Zealand mosque ...Terrorism of every kind is condemnable,” Boya Khan, a netizen wrote on the Facebook wall.

Gowhar Geelani, a journalist and a political commentator, said the terrorist don't happen in isolation. “Media propaganda plays a role. In India, vast sections of electronic media spread hate against #Kashmiris through vitriolic commentary and racial debates, and thus encourage saffron terrorists and Hindu extremists to launch terror and racial attacks on Kashmiris in mainland India."
