JOIN USModi government is set to face heat on the issue of quota in the appointment of university teachers in the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament with several Opposition parties coming together to press for an ordinance or a Bill to reverse a court’s order which favoured department-wise roaster system for filling up the vacancies.
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Left, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and other Opposition parties will raise the issue during the upcoming Parliament session.
The RJD, AAP, DMK, Muslim League and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will also raise the issue of 10% EWS quota for General category people in Parliament, demanding government that it should first conduct a caste-census before implementing the quota for EWS in General category.
Various organisations representing the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Dalits and other marginalised sections of the society are up in arms against the government demanding immediate promulgation of an ordinance or enactment of a law during the upcoming session to reinstate university-wise roaster system for filling up the vacancies in the universities.
They are also protesting against the implementation of 10% EWS quota, saying the Bill passed by Parliament to provide reservation to General category people was “unconstitutional”.
They have intensified their demands for an ordinance or a law to reverse 2017 Allahabad High Court Order which favoured department-wise filling up of vacancies of teachers since the Supreme Court recently rejected a SLP filed by the Centre.
