Modi king of rhetoric ruling kingdom of ruin: Rahul

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of job losses and agrarian distress, describing him as 'jumla raja' (king of rhetoric) presiding over a kingdom of ruin.

“Farmers do not get the right prices, youth do not get the right jobs in 'jumla raja's chaupat raj', no hard working person gets respect,” Rahul said on Twitter.

He tagged a media report on the unemployment situation in Uttar Pradesh, claiming that youth with even PhD degrees are applying for class IV menial jobs.

Rahul has been highly critical of Modi on the issue of unemployment and has often accused him of not fulfilling his promise – before coming to power – of providing two crore jobs a year to the youth.

Agrarian distress is emerging as the key issue for the Congress' manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls and the party is mulling promising a mega farm loan waiver.

Hollow promise

Addressing a rally in Rourkela in Odisha, Rahul kept up the attack on the Modi government on economic issues.

He said the prime minister had promised to bring back the black money stashed abroad and deposit Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts of the people. The promise has been a hollow one.

The BJP had also failed to honour its promise of generating two crore jobs every year, Rahul added.
