'Kill those, who fight you', UP Varsity VC to students

Last Updated 30 December 2018, 11:50 IST

Teachers are supposed to turn the students into ideal citizens but this Uttar Pradesh teacher, it seems, wants them to become criminals.

This teacher, who was also the vice-chancellor of the state-owned Poorvanchal University at Jaunpur town, about 200 kilometres from here, told the students to ''kill'' those, who fought them.

''Agar aap Poorvanchal Vishwavidyalaya ke chatra hain to kabhi mere paas rote hue mat ana..agar kisi se jhagra ho to use peet kar ana...agar tumhara bas chale to murder karke ana...uske baad hum dekh lenge'' (If you really are the students of Poorvanchal University, then never come to me crying....if someone fights with you, beat him and if you can, murder him and then come to me...I will protect you), Raja Ram Yadav, the VC of the varsity, said while addressing a gathering of students on Saturday.

A video in which Yadav was heard making the remarks has gone viral on the social media networks.

According to the sources Yadav had earlier also triggered a controversy by organising a 'Ram Katha' (a program based on Hindu epic Ramayana containing the deeds of Lord Rama) inside the varsity campus.

The VC's comments drew sharp reactions from the opposition parties, who demanded his sacking. ''What he has said is dangerous....does he want the students to become criminals,'' asked a senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader here.

BJP leaders too expressed shock and dismay at the VC's remarks.
