Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to people to be whistleblowers to save democracy. He said that he launched the agitation against EVMs to protect the interests of the country as Narendra Modi’s government has been destroying all the democratic institutions. Naidu said that he would tour the country and address meetings to make people debate on erring EVMs.

Speaking to media in Amaravati on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that PM Modi was harassing leaders including Chief Ministers of opposition parties through IT raids. He said Modi who calls himself as a Chowkidar protected those who looted the country. Naidu also suspected a nationwide conspiracy to remove votes online.

The Chief Minister said that the leaders of YSR Congress Party were acting as if they were coming to power. Commenting on the complaint made by retired IAS officers against him with the Governor, the Chief Minister said why the same officials failed to react when Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha was transferred abruptly. How did the central government choose L V Subrahmanya who had pending cases against him, as a Chief Secretary, Naidu wondered.

Earlier reviewing the progress of Polavaram project, the Chief Minister directed the officials to speed up the works to release water through gravity by July. He said despite of non-cooperation from Centre he is determined to complete the project by December. He said so far 69 per cent of it was completed. He said officials should give priority to relief and rehabilitation works.
