Union Minister Arun Jaitley, who was in New York for about a month for medical treatment, Friday resumed as Finance Minister and attended a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) called to take stock of the security situation in Kashmir valley after it's worst-ever terror attack in Pulwama that killed at least 38 CRPF personnel, including one from Karnataka and left many injured on Thursday.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was away to Sweden for a bilateral meeting too cut short her visit and rushed to attend CCS chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to leave for Srinagar immediately after the CCS, where he will conduct review meetings with senior security and police officials.

The Prime Minister has asked top cabinet ministers to cancel all their political engagements and attend to the requirements of the valley.

Jaitley, who came back from New York last week, had condemned the attack in a Twitter message last night saying the terrorists would be given an unforgettable lesson for the heinous act.

The attack has been carried out by Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad, which rammed an explosive-laden SUV into a bus carrying CRPF personnel on Thursday evening.
