Divine power behind UP gangster's killing: BJP MLA

Last Updated 13 October 2018, 11:33 IST

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may have ordered a judicial probe into the killing of the dreaded mafia don Munna Bajarangi inside the district jail in Baghpat on Monday, but an MLA of his own party feels that the criminal was gunned down by some ''divine power''.

''The god himself entrusted someone with the task of eliminating the mafia don as judiciary delayed a decision on him,'' BJP legislator Surendra Singh said on Wednesday.

''The killing is a part of divine intervention to keep the world free of criminals....it has once again proved that as one sows so shall he reap,'' Singh, who is known for his foot in the mouth remarks, said.

Bajarangi was shot ten times from point-blank range allegedly by another gangster Sunil Rathi, who too was lodged in the same jail when the former was brought out of the isolation barrack to be taken to the court for the appearance in a case.

It is not the first time Singh had embarrassed his own government and party by his remarks.

Earlier he had demanded that the 'Taj Mahal', the monument of love, be re-christened after Lord Rama or Lord Krishna. He also said that the roads and streets after Muslim rulers like Babar and Humayun should be re-christened after Indian icons.
