Owaisi says Cong offered 25L to cancel rally

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday alleged that Congress party leaders offered him Rs 25 lakh if he cancels a public meeting at Nirmal town in Adilabad district of Telangana.

Speaking at a public rally in the poll-bound Telangana, Owaisi claimed that he has the call record to prove the charge while asserting that nobody can buy him and asked voters to stand firm against similar (monetary) influences. "I would sacrifice my life but would never compromise on party interests," he said.

AIMIM is not contesting from Nirmal constituency in the December 7 assembly elections. However, it has extended the support to TRS candidate P Indrakaran Reddy who fights Congress' Maheswara Reddy.

AIMIM, which limits itself by contesting in seven seats in old city area in Hyderabad, campaigns in few other Muslim-dominated pockets like Nirmal and Bhainsa in Adilabad district.
