JOIN USFlagship Killer 2.0: Redmi K20, Pro make global debut
Redmi, which recently became an independent subsidiary of Xiaomi unveiled its first standalone flagship Redmi K20 Pro in China.
Going by the specifications and price, the Redmi K20 Pro is shaping up to be a promising flagship phone and probably give OnePlus 7 series, a run for its money.
Redmi K20 Pro sports a 6.39-inch full HD+ AMOLED HDR display with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. It also comes with Gorilla Glass 5 shield and 3D glass cover. On the back, it boasts a glossy premium shell with gradient finish.
Inside, it comes with a powerful 7nm-class Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB/8GB LPDDRX4 RAM, 64GB/128GB/256GB storage (UFS 2.1) and a 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support.
As far as the photography hardware is concerned, it boasts feature-rich triple camera, 48MP (with Sony IMx586 sensor, F1.85 aperture), 13MP ultra wide angle lens and 8MP telephoto lens on the back. And, a 20MP pop-up selfie camera.
Besides the Pro version, the company also announced a generic Redmi 20 model. It has pretty much same design language including internal hardware as the top-end model but differs in a couple of aspects. It houses Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 octa-core and supports 18W fast charging.
Rest including the display, battery capacity, and the camera remains the same as the Redmi K20 Pro.
Xiaomi's Redmi K20 Pro comes in four options-- 6GB RAM +128GB storage, 6GB RAM + 256GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM +256GB storage--for ¥2,499 (approx. $362/€324/Rs 25,296), ¥2,599 (approx. $376/€337/Rs 26,308), ¥2,799 (approx. $405/€363/Rs 28,333), and ¥2,999 (approx. $434/€389/Rs 30,357), respectively. It is slated to go on sale in China from June 1 onwards.
On the other hand, Redmi K20 is offered in two configurations--6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM +128GB stores for--¥1,999 (approx. $289/€259/Rs 20,227) and ¥2,099 (approx. $304/€272/Rs 21,239), respectively. It is scheduled to hit stores in China on June 6.
Both the models will be available in three colour options--Flame Red, Glacier Blue, and Carbon Fiber Black.
As of now, there is no official word on when Redmi K20 series will come to India, but going by the tweets of the Manu Kumar Jain, vice president (global), Xiaomi, it is likely to debut soon probably in June. There is also the possibility that the Redmi K20 Pro may come in Poco branding in India.
