Suspended Pandya, Rahul to return home

Last Updated 11 January 2019, 19:57 IST

Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul will be sent home from Australia after the Board of Control for Cricket in India suspended the two pending enquiry, following their comments on the chat show Koffee With Karan.

The two cricketers, who have issued show-cause notices after the episode was aired on Sunday, will miss the three-match ODI series against Australia starting on Saturday in Sydney.

The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), in a notice, informed the two about the suspension due to “misconduct and indiscipline”. An enquiry committee is expected to be set up in 15 days. Till then, the two players have been barred from participation in any match or function.

“You are aware that enquiry and proceedings against you for misconduct and indiscipline have been initiated under Rule 41 of the BCCI constitution and the same are presently pending...you are hereby suspended with immediate effect from participating in any manner whatsoever in any match, function, event, activity that is authorised, organised, sanctioned, recognised or supported by the BCCI, state associations, ICC until final adjudication of the matter,” the notice read.

The suspension came at the behest of CoA member Diana Edulji after the BCCI legal team said their comments could not be considered a violation of the board’s code of conduct.
