BJP misleading people on CAG report: Siddaramaiah

Last Updated 16 December 2018, 19:48 IST

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah, on Saturday, said that the BJP is misleading the people and is levelling false allegations against him over the misuse of Rs 35,000 crore during his tenure as chief minister.

Speaking to reporters, here, he said, there are no details about thousands of crores during the years 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13. “Who was the chief minister then? As budget size increases, the volume of unaccounted funds will also go up,” he said.

“The BJP leaders have no understanding of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. They are misleading the people. No scams have taken place during the Congress rule. We have maintained economic stability,” Siddaramaiah defended.

He said, “BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa is depressed. He has understood that he will never become chief minister, again, if he fails to wrest power before the Lok Sabha elections. Thus, he is trying to lure our MLAs.”

Replying to a query about him skipping the Belagavi session, Siddaramaiah said, he is visiting a foreign nation to attend a marriage function.

Siddaramaiah said, he had not done anything wrong in recommending the ‘religious minority’ status for the Lingayat community, reports DHNS from Chamarajanagar.

“I will be careful while speaking about any religion. It will become an issue, if I say something,” he said.

Siddaramaiah was addressing a gathering during the foundation stone laying for Nalanda Buddha University at Yadabetta near here.

He said, “In a programme, a group of people from the community had raised their voice for a separate religion. As per the request, a committee was formed for further course of action,” Siddaramaiah said.
