Denial of hall ticket: HM served notice

Last Updated 22 March 2019, 19:40 IST

Close on the heels of allegations that four students from St John’s High School at Allipade of Sarapadi, Bantwal taluk, were not allowed to write the SSLC examination, Bantwal Block Education Officer (BEO) Shivaprakash visited the school on Friday.

During his visit, the block education officer found that hall tickets had not been issued to the four students. Following this, the officer served a notice to the school headmaster.

Parents of the students charged that, since the students are not academically very bright, the headmaster feared poor pass percentage for the school if the students failed to clear the examinations. The headmaster had, therefore, not issued hall tickets to the students, they complained.

The teachers and SDMC members have decided to train the four students separately and help them answer the examinations in the next academic year. The four students, therefore, were forced to skip the first language examinations held on Thursday.

The school headmaster has been asked to reply to the notice within 24 hours, sources in the BEO’s office told DH.
