Gloom descends on SL blast victim’s house in Tumakuru

A pall of gloom descended on the family members of Ramesh Gowda, a resident of Saraswatipuram in the city and liquor businessman after they learnt that he was killed in serial bomb blasts in Sri Lanka, on Monday.

Ramesh Gowda, who was into multiple businesses including a wine shop on MG Road, along with six of his friends from Nelamangala, had gone to the Island nation for a leisure trip. Ramesh Gowda and four other (JD(S) workers) were confirmed dead in the blasts in Colombo.

Gowda is survived by his wife Manjula, son Shobith and daughter Disha.
Tumkur City MLA G B Jyothiganesh, DySP Thippeswamy and others visited Ramesh Gowda’s house and offered their condolences.

Jyothiganesh told reporters, “Ramesh Gowda was a good friend of mine. He was my classmate at Sarvodaya PU College. I learnt about his death through the media. The family has lost its breadwinner.

“ The pain that the Ramesh Gowda’s family is enduring is beyond words.”

“Shivanna, the brother-in-law of Harsha Hospital owner Sivakumar, who was part of the seven-member team,
has gone missing. I have spoken to Shivakumar. He is going to Colombo today,” the MLA said.

The city police have obtained the necessary information from the family. I will be in touch with Shivakumar. It won’t be a problem in bringing the body from Sri Lanka, a friend of India, the legislator added.
