BSY blames CM for power cuts in Mandya

Last Updated 22 March 2019, 04:08 IST

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has criticised Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, for allegedly disconnecting power suplly in many areas of Mandya to prevent people from watching actor Sumalatha file her nomination papers and addressing a rally on television in Mandya.

Speaking to reporters here, Yeddyurappa accused Kumaraswamy of misusing his powers and exhibiting a dictatorial attitude which, he said, was a threat to democracy.

Attacking Kumaraswamy for targeting Sumalatha’s political aspirations, he said she had given an appropriate response to him.

“When Ambareesh was alive, Kumaraswamy had shown love and respect for him. When he died, his remains were taken to Mandya by the chief minister. However, now he is belittling Ambareesh. People of Mandya will not be kindly to this kind of an attitude,” he added.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Go Madhusudan accused the Congress-JD(S) coalition of sidelining Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara.

Addressing a press conference, he said that Parameshwara was conspicuous by his absence during the joint press meet of the Congress and JD(S) leaders, held to announce the seat-sharing arrangement in the state for the elections.

“Due to the differences within the party, they have not been able to finalise candidates in many of the constituencies in the state,” he said.

Commenting on Mandya constituency, he said that the coalition partners have lost the hope of winning the Vokkaliga stronghold due to the massive support garnered by Sumalatha.
